What You Will Do

The Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Cancer within the Breast Screening Unit provides support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. The ACNS undertakes holistic needs assessment, meeting any initial needs and liaises with other ACNS and multi-disciplinary team members to optimise the care pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who seeks to further develop their skills, experience and career. You will require cancer experience and should possess advanced communication skills and a passion for quality patient care. The ACNS will be expected to undertake a post graduate course provided through SABI (Scottish Academy of Breast Imaging) in performing clinical breast examination to fulfil this role. The course takes approximately 1 year to complete.

This post is a band 7 with Annex 21 conditions applied.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

  • Nursing and Midwifery Council registration
  • Extensive post registration experience & speciality experience.
  • First degree
  • Relevant post graduate course in clinical examination or equivalent experience
  • The post holder will through relevant training courses and experience be working at Masters level
  • Ability to work in complex clinical environment
