JOB DETAILS:
ActionAid International Uganda (AAIU) is a Ugandan national development organization, affiliated with ActionAid International- a global federation of independent members and national programs working in 47 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas for a just and sustainable world. We have worked in Uganda since 1982. In Uganda, we have a physical presence in 15 districts, in addition to collaborative work with our partners, reaching out to 39 districts, with a deliberate focus on districts where the poor and vulnerable persons are concentrated.
About the Citizens’ Action Against Corruption Activity: The high levels of corruption, permeating all sectors of Ugandan society is driven by growing impunity, citizen apathy and permissive social norms that promote, facilitate, and even justify corruption. While Uganda has the basic policies and institutional framework necessary to address corruption in place, the efforts have neither stopped, nor reduced the leakage of public resources, or enjoyed the confidence of majority of citizens. A multipronged approach of strengthening accountability systems, as well as strengthening citizens action against corruption, as well as promoting positive norms is needed to make sustainable impact in the fight against corruption. Citizens’ Action Against Corruption is conceived to empower citizens to lead the anticorruption efforts and promote accountability.
