Job Summary: Latek Stay Alliance Uganda is seeking a dedicated and competent Accounts Assistant to provide essential support to the finance and accounting department in managing day-to-day financial operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with financial policies, grant requirements, and organisational standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, ethical, and committed to upholding Latek’s values while high performing and contributing to sound financial systems and accountability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the accountant to adhere to all Latek’s financial policies, procedures, and grant compliance requirements.
- Support day-to-day financial management and accountability processes.
- Assist the Accountant in planning and implementing activities to strengthen financial systems.
- Follow up on payment acknowledgments and obtain receipts from service providers.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing for all payment records.
- Maintain accounting records for the main cash book and petty cash.
- Enter financial transactions into QuickBooks Online under supervision.
- Support Latek’s partners regarding financial management and reporting.
- Review financial documents.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a finance and accounting role.
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online is a must.
- A part professional qualification (CPA or ACCA) is an added advantage.
- Experience in an NGO or grant-funded environment is an added advantage.
- Strict ethical conduct in all financial tasks, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with accounting standards and grant requirements.
- Effective team collaboration.
- Clear communication of financial information.
- Responsibility and consistency in completing financial assignments, with minimal supervision, upholding high standards of precision.
- Adaptability in Financial Operations.
