We are a manufacturing company seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a proven track record of successfully handling URA audits. The role involves overseeing the full accounting function in a factory environment, including cost accounting, inventory, and production costing. The ideal candidate combines technical accounting skills with leadership ability and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month end closing
• Oversee cost accounting: raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and production costing
• Manage inventory accounting and ensure accurate stock valuation.
• Prepare and file statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, income tax) and ensure full URA compliance
• Lead the preparation for and response to URA audits and queries
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports for decision-making
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Requirements
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in accounting and financial management
- Demonstrated experience managing and responding to URA audits
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, WHT, income tax)
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
- Professional qualification: ACCA or CPA (full or part-qualified) .
- Experience working in the manufacturing sector, particularly with cost and inventory accounting
- Experience with Odoo or ERP.
