Position Summary

Ecolite Minerals Uganda Ltd seeks to recruit a competent, detail-oriented, and ethical Accountant to strengthen its finance and administrative function. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls to support efficient and compliant business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow statements, and financial reports
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Support preparation of annual financial statements and audits

Statutory Compliance & Taxation

  • Ensure timely filing of statutory returns (URA taxes, PAYE, NSSF, VAT, WHT, etc.)
  • Maintain proper statutory records and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with auditors, URA, and other regulatory bodies as required

Sales Accounting & Revenue Tracking

  • Prepare and issue sales invoices, delivery notes, and receipts
  • Maintain customer accounts, sales ledgers, and receivables registers
  • Track customer payments, credit balances, and overdue accounts
  • Support reconciliation between sales records, inventory, and cash/bank receipts

 

Production, Sales & Operations Support

  • Support the Sales Agronomist and sales team with pricing schedules, quotations, and order documentation
  • Support the production team with sales-driven production forecasting by providing timely demand projections, order pipelines, and market insights to inform production planning and scheduling.
  • Maintain basic sales reports (daily, weekly, monthly sales summaries)
  • Support inventory movement documentation (dispatches, returns, stock reconciliations)
  • Assist in customer data management and sales record filing

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Preparation and monitoring of annual budgets
  • Track operational expenses and report variances against approved budgets
  • Maintain cost control systems for operations, logistics, and procurement

Payroll & HR Support

  • Process staff payroll accurately and on time
  • Manage payroll deductions, statutory contributions, and staff records

Internal Controls & Administration

  • Implement and enforce basic internal controls and financial procedures
  • Support procurement processes, supplier payments, and contract documentation
  • Maintain proper filing systems for financial and administrative records

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of a Diploma in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • A bachelor’s degree in the same fields is preferable.
  • Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is a strong advantage
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, mining, agribusiness, or SMEs.
  • Sound knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and statutory compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in fast-growing work environments is an added advantage
