Description

Reapers Cooperative Society is hiring an Accountant to focus on financial oversight and analysis, including accounts-level monitoring, financial forecasting, contingency planning, and reporting. The purpose is to plan, design, and coordinate the implementation of a robust SACCO accounting, financial management, and internal control system.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide oversight in risk, governance, conformance, and adherence to internal controls.
2. Supervise preparation of financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), management accounts, and statutory accounts per ISA, IESBA, GAAP, and IFRS standards.
3. Coordinate annual budgets and rolling business plans.
4. Identify investment alternatives while mitigating currency risk exposure.
5. Ensure a healthy loan book and growth of member savings portfolio.
6. Conduct monthly budget monitoring, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
7. Ensure tax compliance (VAT, WHT, NSSF, PAYE, Corporate tax) and manage correspondence with the tax regulator.
8. Oversee treasury management, including cash flows, banking arrangements, and payment disbursements.
9. Supervise accurate payroll preparation and disbursement.
10. Verify expenditure and procurement requisitions/payments.
11. Participate in project proposal design, budget review, and tracking.
12. Ensure accurate data feeds, data safety, and risk management in accounting software.
13. Coordinate timely internal and statutory audits and implement audit recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/BSc in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting major), or Accounting & Finance.
• CPA or ACCA qualification.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
