JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
The Accountant will manage all financial activities within the company, ensuring accurate financial records, reporting, and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all transactions are recorded in the accounting system, including sales, purchases, returns, and overhead costs.
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accurate financial data.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management regarding company performance and trends.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all invoices are processed promptly, and payments are collected within the agreed-upon terms.
• Handle collections and follow up on overdue payments while maintaining professional client relationships.
• Monitor inventory levels and cost of goods sold (COGS), ensuring proper accounting for stock and understanding inventory turnover.
• Assist in the reconciliation of inventory counts and support the finance team with adjustments where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations and requirements (e.g., VAT, sales tax).
• Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax and income tax, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts based on sales projections and market trends.
• Analyze variances between actual and projected results, providing recommendations for improving financial performance.
• Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments to employees.
• Ensure deductions for taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related expenses are processed accurately.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and minimize the risk of fraud.
• Suggest and assist in implementing improvements to accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Odoo), tax laws, payroll, and inventory management.
• 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the retail or distribution sector.
