JOB DETAILS:
The Accountant plays a vital role in supporting Wilmat Development Foundation’s mission by ensuring effective financial management, accountability, and transparency across all operations. This position involves managing day-to-day financial activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external donor requirements.
The Accountant will provide financial oversight and contribute to the successful implementation of organizational and project budgets by tracking expenditures, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately, and assisting program staff in adhering to financial guidelines. In addition to core financial management, the Accountant will be responsible for providing financial advice and support to management, enhancing financial systems and controls, and preparing financial statements and donor reports. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to promoting sound financial stewardship across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all organizational transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donors.
• Manage statutory deductions, such as PAYE, NSSF, and local taxes, and ensure timely remittance to relevant authorities.
• Manage cash flow and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws, donor regulations, and organizational financial policies.
• Prepare and process staff payroll, suppliers and service providers while ensuring adherence to financial procedures.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and donor financial reporting guidelines and other assigned roles.
REQUIREMENTS:
• A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally) and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of donor financial reporting requirements is an added advantage.
• Financial planning and management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
• Team player with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
