About the job
The Accountant is expected to support the business on all finance-related and operational matters and will be a critical support to the Finance Lead.
This role is essential to provide the support for the Finance Lead and be a solid backup. The accountant will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.

Roles and responsibilities:
• Financial Accounting and Reporting
• Ensuring all financial transactions are recorded in line with applicable GAAP, IFRs and company policy
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.

• Support in the preparation of monthly management accounts ( balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports).
• Prepare accurate financial performance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing financial information with a special focus on key performance variances (trends).

• Ensure comprehensive reconciliation of all ledgers’ balances (Balance Sheet and Income statement) including Cash reconciliation, Payables ageing (including vendor credit balances), Receivables ageing (including customer credit balances), Inventory ageing, PPE movements, Staff accounts (travel advances, due from employees etc)

• Support in the coordination of annual statutory Audits in line with the internal reporting calendar
• Tax and Regulatory compliance
• Support in all tax matters correspondences (Internal & External)
• Ensure timely review of tax computations and submission of tax returns to the tax authority. Including management of the annual income tax declaration.

• Coordinate the resulting tax settlement as per the Ugandan tax calendar
• Assist in provision of daily guidance to the internal team on the tax interpretations and impact on transactions
• Cash and Managing Treasury matters
• Assist in management of banking relationships including negotiation of Forex rates
• Ensuring optimal level of cash at the bank is maintained

• Monitor and control the flow of cash receipts and disbursements
• Support in preparation of cash plans including actualisation and re-forecasting
• Billing and Receivables Management (Backup)

Support the Operations team with the end-to-end billing process by,
• Reconciling customer credits
• Acting as a point of contact on all customer invoices and balance statements
• Ensuring timely invoicing and matching of customer receipts to balances

• Reviewing ageing reports and guiding on collections with customers.
• Liaising with customers to ensure correct application of payments, withholding, credits, etc., update withholding tax trix.
• Support in ensuring adherence to CSquared’s collections and termination of services process.
• OPEX and CAPEX Management
• OPEX and CAPEX expenditures monitoring, ensure adequate recording and reporting. Hold regular spend awareness meetings with budget owners and update the Finance Lead
• Perform annual asset management processes such as verification
• Management of the Fixed Asset Register
• Policies and Procedures
• Assist in enforcement of continuous adherence to Internal financial controls in the company
• Review existing financial policies and recommend areas of improvement to the business.
• Conduct regular refresher training to the C Squared team on existing policies as well as educating the team on the key changes to the policies.
• Documentation and Archiving
• Ensure proper management of all financial source documents (Physical and electronic files)
• Secure financial information by completing routine database backups
• Support the budgeting process
• Budget preparation
• General budget management

Requirements:
• BSc/BA in Accounting/finance and qualified accountant will be an advantage.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in reporting & financial management
• Accounting, Corporate Finance, Reporting Skills, Attention to detail, Deadline-Oriented.
• Should exhibit excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Must be aware of the general regulatory norms of the telecom sector.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to carry out multiple and intricate tasks.
