Role Purpose

The Electrical Technician (English–Chinese Speaking) is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems, equipment, and automation controls within the clinker production facility through effective inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities. The role also serves as a communication bridge between Chinese expatriate staff and local employees by providing accurate English–Chinese translation and interpretation services, facilitating effective technical communication, knowledge transfer, and coordination of maintenance and production activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems within the clinker production plant.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical faults affecting plant operations.
• Maintain and service motors, transformers, switchgear, electrical panels, VFDs, PLCs, and control systems.
• Monitor the performance and reliability of electrical installations and production equipment.
• Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and electrical safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with production, mechanical, and engineering teams to ensure efficient plant operations.
• Support electrical projects, shutdown maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide English–Chinese translation and interpretation support during technical meetings, training sessions, maintenance activities, and communication between Chinese expatriate staff and local employees.
• Translate technical manuals, maintenance procedures, reports, work instructions, and other operational documents between English and Chinese.
• Facilitate effective communication between local and expatriate teams to support safe and efficient plant operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance, preferably in a cement plant, clinker factory, mining operation, manufacturing plant, or heavy industry.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and industrial automation systems.
• Experience working with motors, transformers, switchgear, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese (spoken and written) is mandatory.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and maintenance best practices.
• Experience in translation and interpretation within a technical or industrial environment will be an added advantage.
