About the Project
The Youth Economic Empowerment through Livestock Development (YEELD) Program is a five-year initiative aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being and resilience of financially disadvantaged young people aged 18–35 years in the Teso, Bukedi, and Ankole sub-regions of Uganda through livestock value chains. The program seeks to create 250,000 work opportunities, including for 200,000 (80%) young women, 5% persons with disabilities (PWDs), and 3% refugees and displaced persons (RDPs). YEELD is being implemented across 20 districts in the three sub-regions through a consortium coordinated by Ripple Effect, dfcu Foundation, and Multi Community Based Development Initiative (MUCOBADI), and Action For Development (ACFODE) as a Gender and Social Inclusion partner, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
Role Purpose
The Communications Officer supports the implementation of YEELD’s communication, visibility, and knowledge management activities. Working closely with the Communications Manager, the role is responsible for executing communication plans, producing content, documenting programme results, and supporting visibility and branding efforts.
The postholder plays a critical role in gathering field-level content, supporting storytelling, managing digital platforms, and ensuring timely dissemination of information across internal and external audiences. The Communications Officer also contributes to archiving programme documentation and strengthening communication capacity among regional teams.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Desirable: Training in digital communications, content creation, or multimedia production.
Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
- 3–5 years of experience in communication, public relations, or media within an NGO or development context.
- Experience in content writing, storytelling, and digital communication.
- Experience supporting programme documentation or knowledge management.
Desirable:
- Experience working in agriculture, livestock, or youth development programmes.
- Familiarity with donor-funded project communication requirements.
Skills and Attributes
