Mission Description
The Operations Manager will spearhead the operational management of a diverse client portfolio, ensuring efficient and compliant logistics operations across Sea Freight (Import & Export), Airfreight, Warehousing, and Inland Container Depot (ICD) services. This role is pivotal in driving service excellence, optimizing costs, enhancing productivity, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Set clear performance targets and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Oversee staff recruitment, onboarding, and capacity development in coordination with HR.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and nurture career growth.
2. Operational Excellence
- Optimize workflows across all operational units to ensure efficiency and service quality.
- Collaborate with QHSE and Operational Excellence teams to review, update, and enforce SOPs.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost-effectiveness and process reliability.
3. Client & Portfolio Management
- Oversee service delivery for a diverse client base, ensuring contractual compliance and profitability.
- Partner with Sales and Finance to develop and validate tariffs, quotations, and client presentations.
- Build strong client relationships through responsive, solution-driven service delivery.
4. Financial & Quality Performance
- Achieve budget and quality-of-service targets, focusing on gross margins and cost control.
- Participate in the disbursement control committee to monitor financial accuracy and compliance.
- Regularly review operational KPIs and implement corrective actions when needed.
5. Subcontractor & Risk Management
- Manage relationships with transporters, government agencies, and other subcontractors.
- Monitor service standards and compliance with AGL policies and legal regulations.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures in collaboration with relevant teams.
Profile
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Procurement.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in clearing and forwarding, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Strong understanding of international freight forwarding, cross-border transport, and corridor logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of logistics systems (e.g., SAP, Power BI) is an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven track record of delivering operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
