Job Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to implement strategies to increase company sales and profits. They identify profitable business opportunities, secure sound business deals, and support Business Development through growing the Assets Under Management and maintaining relationships with BAM Uganda Clients and agents. The role holder will report to Business Development Manager. Key Responsibilities 

  1. Effectively work with your supervisor in the analysis of the performance of the Business Development function and propose and implement initiatives for the growth of the Business Development function.
  2. Market Research and Analysis

Conduct thorough market research to identify new opportunities for growth within Uganda’s asset management sector.

Analyze trends in the asset management industry, keeping up-to-date with competitor activities and economic changes impacting investment.

  1. Client Acquisition and Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders to promote Britam’s asset management products and services.

Identify prospective clients, conduct client meetings, and present tailored investment solutions to meet their needs.

  1. Sales Strategy Development and Implementation

Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase Britam's market share in asset management.

Work closely with the marketing team to design promotional strategies and campaigns that increase brand visibility and attract clients.

  1. Product Knowledge and Client Advisory

Maintain in-depth knowledge of Britam’s investment products, understanding their benefits and risks.

Provide clients with sound advice and guidance on Britam’s investment options and tailor solutions that align with clients’ financial goals.

  1. Financial Reporting and Performance Tracking

Prepare regular sales and performance reports to track progress toward targets, highlighting any challenges and areas for improvement.

Analyze the financial impact of business development activities and recommend adjustments to optimize outcomes.

  1. Networking and Industry Representation

Represent Britam Asset Managers at industry events, conferences, and seminars to network and promote the company’s investment offerings.

  1. Partnerships: Build partnerships with brokers, financial advisors, and institutions that can support client acquisition and revenue growth.
  2. Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure that all business development activities comply with regulatory standards and Britam’s policies, maintaining ethical standards in all client interactions.

Monitor potential risks related to market dynamics and client relationships, escalating issues as necessary.

  1. Collaboration with Internal Teams
  2. Work closely with investment, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless onboarding, account management, and client satisfaction.
  3. Provide feedback to product development teams based on client insights to help refine and enhance Britam’s offerings.
  4. Maintaining relationship with the Britam network to ensure sales target are met
  5. Provide Customers with high service standards
  6. Delegated Authority:  As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix
  7.  Performs any other duties as required

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a business related field
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
  3. 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
  4. Experience working with diverse teams
  5. Experience working in the financial services sector with focus on business development is an added advantage.
  6. Familiarity with the asset management and financial services industry in Uganda is essential.
  7. Strong sales and negotiation skills are paramount
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  9. An understanding of financial analysis and investment principles is beneficial.
  10. Ability to network effectively and build relationships with potential clients, industry professionals, and key stakeholders is crucial for success in this role.
  11. A results-driven and goal-oriented mindset is important.
