Job Description:
The role of the IT Intern is to assist and support the IT Lead in the maintenance of hardware, software, and other systems. The intern will be the first point of contact for all internal customers (team members) and exhibit professionalism, efficiency, and an excellent work ethic in handling any and all IT requests received by the department. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, assisting in the identification, research, and resolution of user and organisational IT issues. The intern will assist with imaging, configuration, setup, and distribution of new computers, laptops, tablets, and cellphones to users.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the IT team in maintaining computer hardware, software, and other systems.
- Troubleshoot issues with IT equipment, including printers, computers, tablets, cell phones, as well as software applications.
- Regularly create training material for the organisation and conduct refreshers on IT and Cybersecurity.
- Regularly conduct network stability tests and maintain and update all network equipment.
- Regularly research network maintenance best practices and ensure that uptime and stability are optimal.
- Maintain a comprehensive and updated asset register of all IT assets and software applications
- Research and propose solutions for IT issues reported by the members of the team.
- Perform regular maintenance and identify possible sources of computer problems, and take appropriate actions, up to and including liaising with external vendors for speedy resolution.
- Working with HR to assist in the setup of new joiners and tracking all requirements for timely onboarding.
- Image, set up, and configure PCs, laptops, tablets, and cellphones for users as part of the technology refresh program (prepare all items for reuse and report on their conditions to the IT Lead).
- Perform software and hardware installations and upgrades.
- Document commonly occurring issues and fixes, and track their progress.
- Develop and maintain a clean and accurate fixed asset register for the department
- Identify and enforce possible security and data privacy violations.
- Assist with backup and data archiving.
- Assist with telephony support as well as additions, deletions, and changes.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or any IT-related field
- ITIL or any other Information technology services management framework experience is a plus
- 0-2 Years of experience in support
