Job Summary: For our group company, Ibero Uganda Limited, we are looking for a Senior IT Officer. The position will be based in Kampala, Uganda and reports directly to the IT Supervisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and support company-wide IT systems including servers, networks, and business applications.
    • Monitor system performance, security, and data integrity across all platforms.
    • Respond to escalated IT issues and ensure timely resolution.
    • Lead implementation of new hardware, software, and network systems.
    • Coordinate IT support across departments and guide junior IT staff.
    • Maintain and enforce IT security protocols, backups, and disaster recovery plans.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, licensing requirements, and data regulations.
    • Document IT procedures, configurations, and maintenance activities.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements for systems, tools, and workflows.
    • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in IT operations or systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, cloud services, data security, and server management.
  • Proficient in Windows and/or Linux environments, virtualization, and backup solutions.
  • Familiar with firewalls, antivirus tools, Active Directory, and Office 365 administration.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Experience in cybersecurity and compliance standards
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or Cisco (CCNA/CCNP).
  • Experience with ITIL framework or ITSM platforms.
  • High level of personal integrity and empathy.
