JOB DETAILS:
To provide technical leadership and operational support for the research, monitoring, and learning agenda of the Baby Checker project, including development of tools, coordination of field activities, data collection, analysis, and documentation of insights for use by internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research Planning & Design
Develop a comprehensive 6-month research and learning work plan for Baby Checker.
Refine the research questions and evaluation framework in line with project goals.
Coordinate the refinement of study protocols, tools, and ethics submissions for research extension.
2. Data Collection & Monitoring Support
Lead coordination of research fieldwork, including training of data collectors and supervision of data collection activities.
Support ongoing monitoring and user feedback collection for iterative product improvements.
Work closely with health facility and Viya teams to ensure data quality and timely submission.

Develop a final report (Health Impact report, Commercial viability report, use case report for Baby Checker and a profit and loss statement)
3. Data Management & Analysis
Manage and clean quantitative and qualitative datasets using tools such as Excel, STATA/SPSS, Python or NVivo.
Conduct basic statistical and thematic analysis to extract actionable insights.
Maintain secure databases and support data visualization and dashboard development. 4. Documentation & Dissemination
Draft monthly learning briefs, case studies, and internal memos summarizing key findings and recommendations.
Support the development of donor and stakeholder reports with relevant data tables and narratives.
Assist in preparing abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts for conferences or publications.
5. Capacity Strengthening & Collaboration
Provide coaching and technical support to Viya field teams and partners on data collection, quality assurance, and use.
Liaise with MOH Research and M&E Units and participate in relevant SRH/MNCH technical working groups and forums.
Foster collaboration with research institutions and digital health stakeholders for alignment and learning exchange. Deliverables

1. Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Demography, Epidemiology, or a related field.
Master’s degree is required. 2. Professional Experience:
Experience in research or M&E within health or digital health programs, experience in reporting on research and donor funded programs is a MUST.
Strong understanding of SRHR and maternal health programming in Uganda
Minimum of 6 years of experience 3. Communication Skills:
Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast – paced environments. 4. Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Experience using tools like DHIS2, ODK, Kobo Toolbox, Excel, and statistical packages (SPSS, STATA)
