Job Summary
The Legal Advisor will provide expert legal support to ensure the company’s compliance with local laws and regulations, review contracts and legal documents, support dispute resolution, and advise on business negotiations. The role also involves safeguarding intellectual property, guiding regulatory compliance, providing legal training to staff, and coordinating closely with internal teams and headquarters on legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Legal Compliance:
- Research and track changes in local laws and regulations; provide timely legal advice to management.
- Review business contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure legality and compliance.
- Handle legal disputes, including litigation and arbitration.
- Develop and implement effective dispute resolution strategies.
- Dispute Resolution:
Handle legal disputes, including litigation and arbitration.

- Business Negotiation Support:
- Participate in major business negotiations and decisions, offering professional legal insights and strategies.
- Legal Affairs:
- Provide guidance on host country laws and regulations relevant to business operations.
- Assist in formulating and reviewing company policies for legal compliance.
- Intellectual Property Protection:
- Protect trademarks, patents, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights.
- Address infringement disputes to safeguard company assets.
- Internal Communication and Collaboration:
- Liaise with headquarters’ legal team and internal departments; report progress and propose solutions.
- Legal Training and Awareness:
- Conduct training for employees on local laws and regulations to enhance legal awareness.
- Complete additional tasks assigned by the Marketing Manager.
Relevant Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, with a recognized local legal qualification.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of legal practice; multinational corporation or international law firm experience preferred.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of local and international commercial laws and practices.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration abilities; alignment with COSL’s values.
- Language: Fluency in English and local languages; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving and logical reasoning for complex legal issues.
