JOB DETAILS:
On behalf of a major E&P operator, WRS are currently seeking an experienced Instrumentation / ICSS Commissioning Engineer to join a high-impact upstream oil & gas development project in East Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major greenfield operation in a remote and technically challenging environment.
The role will be working on a 12 month renewable contract, rotating 28/28 at site, paying a day rate in USD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commissioning activities for ICSS, PSD, ESD, and F&G systems.
- Define subsystem boundaries and commissioning packages.
- Oversee contractor preparation, execution, and documentation for pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks.
- Ensure compliance with safety and project HSE standards throughout execution phases.
- Manage the punch list process, including validation and sign-off.
- Review and approve commissioning strategies, procedures, and operational test protocols.
- Coordinate FAT, iFAT, and SAT activities at vendor sites and ensure proper documentation.
- Conduct cybersecurity audits and ensure proper transfer of software licenses and credentials.
- Support the development of local operations teams through training and coaching.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in instrumentation and control systems commissioning in the oil & gas sector.
- Strong knowledge of ICSS systems and experience with OPERCOM methodology and ICAPS database.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate multi-discipline teams in an EPC or project environment.
- Experience with large-scale onshore pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Familiarity with safety systems and integration of instrumentation with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to work effectively in remote locations and multicultural environments.
