Job Summary
The role holder will be accountable for interpretation of financial information to stakeholders of the business for informed decision making. The role holder will also be responsible for performance of financial analysis and Regulatory Reporting to the Central Bank and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB)

Accountability
Financial Reporting and Regulatory Reporting
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports from various relevant systems | Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Preparation of the Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations accurately & timeously
• Review reports from the Treasury, Finance and Risk departments and spearhead the monthly reconciliation engagements with function heads.
• Recommend actions on any items at risk in the balance sheet.
• Help in compiling audit evidence and ensure all audit issues with regards the BA610 (SARB) Queries have been resolved
Regulatory Reporting: Responsible for Central bank Reports relating to liquidity, maturity profiling, Fx positions and Transactions
BA610 Reporting: The BA610 report is published by the Group Regulatory Reporting to SARB DIX system. The role holder will be responsible for all Sections except Section- E
• Section A to C- On and off-Balance sheet and Profit and Loss analysis
• Section D: Capital Host Ratio and Input
• Section E – Credit -To still be managed by the credit team
• Section F – Liquidity Risk
• Section G – Market Risk
• Section H – Interest Rate Risk in Banking Book
• Section I – Equity Risk
• Section J – Operational Risk
• BA099 Attestation Per Country: On a quarterly basis when disclosed externally to South African Reserve Bank.
Summary of Credit Exposures and risk weighted exposures reported include; On-balance sheet Exposure, Off-balance sheet Exposure, Repurchase and Resale agreements, Derivative instruments, Total Credit Exposures, Total Credit Exposures post CRM, Risk Weighted exposure Impaired/Non-Impaired Advances.
Accountability: Management Reporting
• Assemble and analyse Business ERP data as well as Macro, Industry and market specific data into useful insights, and avail to management in a timely fashion for strategic, tactical and operational requirements.
• Reviewing and challenging assigned Business capital investment projects to ensure viability, consistency with Business unit and overall Bank’s strategy, monitoring post implementation of the projects for the delivery of committed benefits.
• Get involved in the RAF, MTP & STP process for the assigned function providing analytical support of drivers and processes of the plans. This involves provision of historical individual and segmental performance facts necessary for objective performance goal setting that drives business performance.
• Analyze and provide monthly detailed analysis of actual achievements against STP/RAF targets both at individual (branch managers/relationship managers) and segment levels.
• Compile and circulate segmental reports (e.g. Trade, Cash Management, Custody, SME, local business, premier etc) to the business.
• Preparation of ALCO, Board, MBR, CMC inputs that relate to the assigned business function
• Carry out Revenue Assurance for the assigned function on a monthly to ensure income leakage is managed. This involves management of data integrity and accuracy from various reporting systems.
• On the daily basis provide key performance insights from the balance sheet movements, transactional volumes/value information from all customer touch points/business channels to drive real time decision making.
Risk and Controls Monitoring
• Understand the appropriate policies & standards applicable to role.
• Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) which are faced in the role thereby contributing to the adherence to the Group Risk and Control Framework.
• Ensure that practices and controls required by policies are communicated to all relevant colleagues
• Ensure that independent oversight, on a proactive basis takes place of the risk performance (including related control effectiveness) principal risks.
• Maintaining procedures to monitor compliance with policies and any controls required by them
Team Leadership/Contribution
• Deputize for the Head of Product Control and Governance when required.
• Provide honest, direct and constructive feedback to fellow team members.
• Share knowledge experience and best practice with team members and other Finance colleagues.

Education and experience required
Academic
• The right candidate will be educated to degree level or above, preferably in a numeric / accountancy / finance related discipline.
• Professional qualification e.g. CPA, ACCA or ACI (or equivalent) is an added advantage
Knowledge and skills:
Professional/technical experience
• The role holder will have experience or knowledge of large company finance functions and how they operate coupled with a good understanding of accounting principles and core finance processes.
• Experience of the regulatory and Product Control environment is seen as essential to deliver the brief, alongside which the role holder will have experience of working in a large organisation with complex matrix and entity structures and have strong technical financial accounting and reporting knowledge gained within the Financial Services industry.
• The ideal candidate has Front Arena, MS applications and / or SAP system experience
Language skills
• The role holder will have an excellent command of English language with strong written and verbal communications to deliver against our commitment to providing a world class service and drive our dedication to the client experience.
