Job Summary (Main Purpose)
Leads the financial and risk strategy and management of Company (comprising 4 subsidiaries), ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and operational efficiency. Oversees financial management, including planning and analysis, internal controls and overall risk management to support business growth and profitability.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
1. Uganda Financial Planning and Analysis
- Coordinate the development or updating the Company’s Strategic priorities and extracting the Key Performance Metrics for effective performance management through budgets and strategic initiative tracking.
- Oversee the financial planning, forecasting and monitoring process to ensure the Company is on track to meet the key strategic initiatives.
- Develop financial analysis and performance reports to provide insights into operations and business plans.
- Participate in M & A activities through the preparation of financial models and engaging in due diligence exercises
2. Cash Flow, Investment & Risk Management
- Oversee Uganda cash flow planning, ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet both capital and operational expenditure.
- Sourcing for reasonably priced financing and providing financial solutions to unlock illiquid working capital
- Manage the group’s financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.
- Supervise cash, investment, and asset management activities, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
- Ensure robust treasury management and banking relationships for liquidity and risk mitigation.
- Ensure appropriate working capital management: debtors, suppliers and inventory
- Managing key stakeholder relationships with the Group’s lenders, Bankers, Suppliers and Business partners, legal counsel such as insurance companies
- Reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee on organizational risk matters and effectiveness of the controls in mitigating against financial loss, reputational damage, etc.
- Offer oversight on Data Protection Compliance matters through the Risk and Compliance department.
3. Financial Governance, Compliance & Reporting
- Formulate financial policies and manuals for consideration by the Board and EXCO and implementing processes that would mitigate against asset misappropriation and revenue loss.
- Ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to financial reporting standards.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, tax filings, and audits.
- Establish and maintain relations with internal auditors, external auditors and regulators such as the URA, investigating and addressing their findings and recommendations.
4. Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Support
- Direct and monitor the implementation of strategic business plans, aligning financial strategy with corporate objectives.
- Provide timely financial advice to Uganda CEO, EXCO and Uganda Board of Directors on risk management, investment decisions, and business performance.
- Develop financial models and insights to support business growth, cost optimization, and long-term sustainability.
5. Uganda Departmental Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Directly supervise direct reports in Finance and Risk department and overall department collaboration.
- Oversee the Finance and Risk Department, ensuring effective financial management, governance, and operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain lines of communication with bankers, insurers, and shareholders in conjunction with the CEO.
- Ensure effective internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard company assets and prevent financial risks.
6. Audit, Compliance & Financial Integrity
- Oversee Uganda’s regulatory compliance, audits, and tax obligations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure sound financial management.
- Oversee the internal controls team that reviews and remediates controls deficiencies
- Drive financial transparency and efficiency, ensuring proper record-keeping and reporting.

Key Skills and Competencies
Qualifications
Formal education required for competence in the job
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (MBA), or Economics.
- Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or ACCA certification required.
- Certification in Corporate Finance, Risk Management, or Financial Strategy is preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years in corporate finance, financial planning, and executive financial leadership, at least 5 in a finance leadership role.
- Experience in large-scale manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, financial management, investment planning, insurance and M& A.
Knowledge & Technical Competencies
Registrations, Affiliations, Professional Certifications
- Expertise in financial governance, strategic financial planning, and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of corporate taxation, IFRS/GAAP compliance, and treasury operations.
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Membership in financial professional organizations (e.g., ACCA, CFA Institute, ICAEW, AICPA) is preferred.
