Job Summary: The Revenue Assurance Analyst is a part of the Revenue Assurance department of the Opco and would support the revenue assurance function at the Opco. The purpose of this job is primarily to review MTN system architecture, consumer products, new technologies, or revenue streams based on call data record formats/ information to be able to design effective requisite RAFM controls to eliminate or mitigate revenue leakage exposure and fraud opportunities. The role is highly tech skill dependent and requires a high level of understanding of core and billing systems to the engineering level with the ability to interpret system information into business formats suitable for control execution and monitoring.
The role requires the ability to explore and design automation avenues for RAFM secondary controls and to research and integrate new technological (AI & ML) capabilities to enhance the design of existing and new RAFM controls.
The Revenue Assurance Analyst role involves designing, consolidating, and analyzing key RAFM product and system validation KPIs for presentation to the CFO and the EXCO focusing on product and system weaknesses, vulnerabilities, leakage gaps, UAT validation, and overall business product launch and performance assurance around the key KPIs and the company’s main revenue drivers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Validation and Testing
- Validate product test user acceptance tests (UATs) to ensure accuracy in charging call detail records (CDRs) and financial reporting.
- Perform end-to-end validation for each product/service, ensuring that billing, usage, and reporting align with the company’s financial and operational standards.
Post Go-Live (PGL) Reporting
- Track and document the performance of each launched product or service, submitting a “Post Go Live” (PGL) report for the high priority products/services to management within 7 days of launch.
- Analyze and highlight alignment with the business case, and performance against expectations, and identify any abuse or revenue leakage both pre- and post-launch.
Monthly Revenue Assurance Summary
- Compile and circulate a monthly summary to the CFO and executive management, detailing all launched products within the month.
- Confirm that product revenues are accurately captured and reported in the “Account-wise report” within the finance business intelligence (BI) reporting system.
Automation of Reconciliation and Monitoring Controls
- Develop and implement automated reconciliation and monitoring processes based on the revenue assurance risk control matrix (RACM).
- Ensure the team can perform analysis efficiently by viewing automated outputs without requiring additional script development or manual SQL querying.
- Support the Operations team in re-defining and implementing new controls or control improvements.
Adoption of Advanced Technologies
- Leverage AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies to enhance revenue assurance and fraud management controls.
- Roll out these advancements across the team and organization, tracking progress and reporting advancements to management.
Revenue Assurance Control Tool Development
- Collaborate with IT and Group RA Technology Assurance to design an internal revenue assurance control tool within the existing EVA database framework.
- Ensure the tool is capable of handling large-scale data and executing automated reconciliation controls without disrupting EVA’s primary reporting operational functions.
Regional Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with the Group RA Technology team based in South Africa to assist other MTN countries in developing and implementing automated controls that align with the revenue assurance risk control matrix.
- Share best practices and guide regional teams in adapting and improving their revenue assurance processes.
Data Migration RA Support
- Work closely with the Technology & IT teams during subscriber data and information migration activities on core or IT systems (SDP, HLR, etc), making sure that the migrations are carried out accurately with no impact on subscriber balances or services.
- Report on migration support results highlighting all concerns observed for immediate resolution.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Essential – University Undergraduate Degree – Finance, Accounting, IT, Telecommunications or related field
- Preferred – Master’s degree in Financial Reporting, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or IT-related discipline.
- Certifications in Revenue Assurance, Fraud Management, or relevant data management (e.g., Certified Revenue Assurance Professional (CRAP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)).
Work Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in a complex, technology-oriented industry
- At least 2 years of cross functional project management experience.
- At least 2 years of interaction with and management of internal and external auditors
- At least 2 years of experience of Enterprise Risk Management practices
- A good working knowledge of telecommunications technology principles and application.
- At least 2 years of working knowledge with internal control and governance systems and environments
Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of telecom OSS and BSS infrastructure, including hardware and software components.
- Excellent knowledge of system audit, business continuity, system resiliency, system support, and release management principles and processes.
- Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies including initiating, executing, controlling, and closing
- Excellent knowledge of business process improvement including business processing mapping, business process reengineering (BPR)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (including Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Project, Visio, and Access)
Skills and competencies:
- Proficiency in database mining languages, particularly SQL, Python, and other relevant languages including automation.
- Strong understanding of GSM telecommunications network architecture, including knowledge of call detail records (CDRs) and usage-based billing.
- Familiarity with business intelligence (BI) tools, financial reporting systems, and data visualization software.
- Experience in data analytics, machine learning, and AI applications within financial assurance and fraud detection frameworks.
- Strong intellect, analytical and synthetic skills, able to zoom into detailed and complex processes.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the maturity and authority to influence, persuade, and get buy-in at all levels.
- Well organized and able to prioritize in regard to important flows of information and multiple requests to be processed; strong project management skills and ability to deliver.
- Advanced Excel & excellent presentation skills, good level of eloquence and public speaking.
