Deed Microfinance exists to provide microfinance and enterprise development services to low and medium income earners to enhance financial independence and sustainable development.

 

Job Summary:   Accelerate growth of the credit products through supervising the branch credit teams in achieving the set operational and institutional targets.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Book loans and ensure portfolio growth.

  • Chair Credit Committees as per policy.
  • Conduct field visits and carry out verification of loans in a bid to improve branch portfolio quality.
  • Identify potential clients, market credit products and implement retention strategies for the existing client base in line with the credit policy & the customer service level standards.
  • Prepare and provide performance analysis reports for DEED products.
  • Notify branches of issues arising and review feedback on the performance of products.

Support the branch credit staff to achieve credit targets.

  • Verify, establish authenticity & completeness of loan documentation in line with the credit policy & defined authorization limits.
  • Champion policy awareness.
  • Monitor branch performance and take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Review turnaround time of loans and advise management.
  • Manage the relationship with clients.
  • Conduct spot checks on clients.
  • Oversee the risk and compliance arm

Customer Centricity

  • Ensure provision of high quality, timely & great customer experience to promote a sales and excellent customer service culture within the Branch team, promote the deed Brand and ensure brand visibility.

Ensure compliance to DEED’s policies and procedures, UMRA guidelines and other applicable laws and regulations.

  • Ensure that the right procedures are followed when clients are presenting their securities.
  • Respond to audit findings and act accordingly

Participate in the setting of branch targets in line with business projections.

  • Conduct loan case analysis.
  • Review the products targets and analyze anticipated growth trends.

Ensure loan recovery.

  • Share with the branch written off loans and determine strategy in their recovery.
  • Verify reports on recovery efforts done by Officers in adherence with policy.
  • Liaise with debt collection officers on their recovery efforts.

Manage Team Development & Performance.

  • Identify training needs for the team and recommend the relevant training
  • Carry out regular training for new staff.

Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor such as;

  • Monitor transactions to ensure compliance to applicable policies, laws and guidelines.
  • Ensure all Individual Loan accounts and records are maintained in accordance with the accounting and Credit Policies and are in safe custody.
  • Maintain close contact with banking partners and ensure proper branch banking procedures and end-of-day cash balances for each transaction.
  • Ensure branch liquidity through timely sign off of cheques as and when required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

Details of experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar field in a financial institution
  • Experience in credit management
  • Working experience in Kampala is preferred

Knowledge, skills and competences

  • Leadership skills
  • Business Development skills(sales & marketing)
  • Good credit knowledge
