JOB DETAILS:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
To provide inspection, installation, maintenance and repairing electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electrical controls and devices of the hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and controls systems
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures

• Effectively communicates with all department supervisors regarding on ongoing repairs of equipment
• Read and understand technical diagrams, blueprints, manuals and datasheets

• Supports the purchasing of electrical equipment, spares, parts and supplies
• Coordinate third-party project and service contractors and work with service providers and hired workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical systems and equipment.

• Use CMS to track all electrical works in the department.

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Conduct CMEs (define CME in full) for users of electrical systems and equipment.

Maintenance and Repair:
• Perform general scheduled electrical inspections and maintenance for transformers, panels, circuit breakers, battery systems, lighting and other electrical components.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.

• Assist the biomedical personnel in medical equipment maintenance and support as needed.
• Maintain and manage all tools and equipment related to the function
• Be available on call as and including weekends, nights, and holidays when need arises.

• Inspects, maintains and repairs electrical equipment and systems periodically such as generators, UPS systems, etc. to ensure that they are always in good working condition.
• Ensure continuous supply of clean and safe electricity on the hospital premises
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools.

• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• In the event of malfunctioning electrical systems or equipment, use test equipment and hand tools to identify the cause of a breakdown and perform corrective maintenance.

Documentation and Reporting:
• Understand, maintain, manage, schedule and utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage inventory, scheduling, document and report electrical maintenance activities.
• Complete necessary documentation, including maintenance logs and reports, during daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi and annual inspection and maintenance.
• Communicate with the relevant team members regarding project status and any necessary repairs or adjustment

Participation in Meetings
• Attend and participate in department meetings as scheduled
• Attend and participate in general co-workers’ meetings as scheduled.

Continuing Professional Development
• Maintain good knowledge of mechanical, security and ICT Systems.
• Identifies and pursues continuing professional development activities in line with their position and maintains professional records that provide evidence of activities completed.
• Works with one’s supervisor to guide in mentorship and coaching for continual professional growth.

Spiritual Ministry participation
• Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.
• Attend chapel and departmental bible studies with staff (depending on weekly schedule)

Compliance & Safety
• Champion electrical safety in the hospital.
• Ensure compliance with national electrical code and local building regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to electrical safety standards and procedures
• Ensure compliance with all requirements of the quality management system (SAFECARE) and other related hospital standards.
• Following & complying with H&S policies, processes & applying them to your own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Participating in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Diploma in Electrical and Electronics engineering 5 or more years of work experience.
• Experience and capability in CMMS software is preferred.
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Good working knowledge of energy systems including utility supplies, generators and solar systems.
• Good working knowledge of established electrical procedures and safety rules.
• Good command of English and local languages.
• Good competency in using a computer and softwares such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
