Samuel and Samantha Enterprises Limited, commonly known as S&S Ent Ltd, is a privately-owned company based in Uganda. Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.

 

Job Summary:  The Supermarket Security Supervisor at S&S Enterprise is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of security operations within the supermarket. This role ensures a safe environment for customers, employees, and assets by implementing robust security protocols, supervising the security team, and coordinating with other departments. The Security Supervisor plays a pivotal role in preventing theft, managing emergency responses, and maintaining strict adherence to company and regulatory standards.

The Supermarket Security Supervisor at S&S Enterprise is integral to maintaining a secure, efficient, and customer-friendly environment. This role requires a blend of strong leadership, technical proficiency, and proactive risk management to safeguard our assets, staff, and customers. Candidates for this position must exhibit high levels of integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of security management.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Security Operations Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the security team, ensuring that all security procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously update security protocols and emergency response plans.
  • Monitor the use of security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control devices.

Supervision and Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage security personnel, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle their responsibilities.
  • Schedule shifts and assign duties to security staff to provide 24/7 coverage during operational hours.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement corrective measures as necessary.

Risk Assessment and Incident Management:

  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in store operations.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, including theft, vandalism, and emergencies, coordinating with local law enforcement when required.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all security-related activities.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with store management, the operations team, and other departments to coordinate security measures.
  • Liaise with external security agencies and vendors to ensure effective maintenance and operation of security equipment.
  • Communicate security policies and procedures clearly to all staff and conduct regular security briefings.

Compliance and Training:

  • Ensure that all security operations comply with company policies, Ugandan labor laws, and relevant industry standards.
  • Organize regular training sessions for security staff on emergency procedures, conflict resolution, and the proper use of security systems.
  • Stay informed of the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve security measures.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A degree or diploma in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a security role, preferably within a retail or similar operational environment.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in managing a security team is highly desirable.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in security management or emergency response (e.g., Certified Security Supervisor) are an asset.
