JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To manage, develop and oversee the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies, projects and procedures of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). The role holder will provide technical expertise on key issues related to the ESG impact, reporting and assessments relative to the Fund's objectives and core business. The incumbent will also ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory standards, liaise with stakeholders and make recommendations on policy and action.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Develop, maintain and execute regular ESG reporting, both internal and external, including the production of an annual Sustainability Report, and other reporting products as needed.
• This role will work with ESG Officer(s) and Fund departments to prepare key information relevant to the reporting cycle, ensuring compliance with the Funds’ objectives and core business.
• Development, maintenance and execution of appropriate disclosure controls and procedures related to Sustainability; inclusion of key ESG disclosures in regulatory filings.
• Manage the materiality assessment process and write Board reports, make recommendations to the Board, and produce management reports.
• Annually Identify key material topics of the Fund, assess and report on their individual impact.
• Keeping processes, procedures, and evidence up to date, assessing and reporting performance, risk and issue management, ensuring the accuracy of information, and complying with regulatory standards and disclosures are all vital to the position.
• Act as a point of contact and develop good relationships with the stakeholders which assist in the development and delivery of ESG objectives and projects.
• Propose, track and measure key ESG metrics.
• Develop and maintain an ESG budget. Inclusive of being accountable for the funds related to Sustainability/ESG activities, having responsibility for accurate financial and detailed monitoring and reporting on utilization.
• Work collaboratively with all departments and stakeholders to develop ESG initiatives and implementation strategies.
• Directly participate in ESG development across the Fund through engaging in the deployment and implementation of key cross-departmental initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Department to drive ESG brand awareness for the Fund.
• Convene internal Sustainability conversations to drive corporate strategy; produce recommendations on action, policy or behaviour change; work with internal stakeholders to enact these recommendations and develop a cohesive narrative around them.
• Ensure that the accounting procedures are followed and provide recommendations to improve the finance processes.
Education Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a business course from a recognised university
• Project Management qualification or equivalent (e.g. PMP, Prince 2 or APM) is an added advantage
Work Experience:
5 years of work experience in Project Management and/or Sustainability Projects.
