Hunger Fighters Uganda (HFU) is a Not-For-Profit, Non-Governmental Organization Initiated In 2008, Pursuing a vision of “A Hunger and Malnutrition Free Uganda”. The Organization is engaged in the activities of fighting hunger and poverty in Uganda with a local, national and global perspective.

HFU wishes to recruit self-motivated and hands-on volunteers to fill the respective positions tenable in the Financial, Digital Literacy and Business Development Skilling under the Access to Finance for Refugees Project in Nakivale and Kyaka II Refugee Settlements in Isingiro and Kyegegwa Districts respectively. The positions will be subject to annual review and contract renewal.

Job Purpose
With the aim to empower refugees with essential financial, digital literacy, and business development skills to prepare beneficiaries to receive loans or grants to foster self-reliance and economic inclusion. The training of trainers to train the beneficiaries will ensure the quality and effectiveness of the training delivered in these vulnerable communities.
The TOTs will be trained to effectively disseminate knowledge in financial and digital literacy along with business development skills to refugees, to enhance their ability to manage personal finances, do savings, leverage digital platforms, and start or grow small businesses.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Study and understand the Curriculum for Financial, Digital Literacy, and Business Development
Skilling to deliver accurate and contextually relevant training.
• Mobilize and sensitive prospective project participants on financial and digital literacy outputs and benefits.
• Identify and support final selection of training participants following the set methodology and criteria.
• Building and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders at all levels (local communities, Local community leadership, opinion leaders, refugee leaders, partners, district, government and others)
• Engage in sessions to understand the cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic background of refugees in Nakivale and Kyaka II to tailor the training accordingly.
• Conduct pre-selection for prospective training participants.
• Develop work plans, timetables and simple lesson plans to deliver the training to the participants.
• Support the conduct of pre and post training assessments through oral or written tests, exams,
practical demonstrations, and peer evaluations of participants.
• Deliver training on all Financial and Digital Literacy, and Business Development Skilling modules to participants.
• Use practical examples, case studies relevant to refugee experiences, role-playing, and group discussions to ensure active participation and understanding of the training content.
• Offer ongoing mentorship to the beneficiaries through community-based sessions or one-onone support.
• Assist trainees in applying learned skills in real-life scenarios, helping with practical issues like
setting up small ventures, use of digital platforms or developing simple business plans.
• Provide completion certificates that recognize the skills acquired by the participants after successfully completing the minimum set training requirements.
• Keep detailed records of attendance, session outcomes, success stories, and challenges faced during training and share daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Collect from, act on and provide feedback to trainees to continuously improve the training
process.
• Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor or management.
Qualifications and Experience
• A diploma or degree in Education, Business Administration, Finance, Microfinance, or related fields from a recognized institution.
• Should have experience working in or with refugee communities and be conversant with the local context/geography and preferably
• Having knowledge of the local languages, i.e., at least two of the most spoken languages in the refugee settlements such as Swahili, Kinyabwisha/Kinyarwanda, Runyakitara, French, or Somali is a must.
• Have experience in delivering trainings to a broad demographic (youth, women, the elderly, and Persons Living a Disability) using participatory, Functional Adult learning and community-based approaches.
• Have a clear understanding of Financial and Digital Literacy, and Business Development Skilling targeting and participant selection methodologies and criteria.
• Exceptional communication, cultural sensitivity, resilience, and ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs.
Key Deliverables
• Deliver all training sessions on Financial and Digital Literacy, and Business Skilling to all the identified training participants.
• Pre training and post-training assessments and progress reports.
• Monthly mentorship updates with focus on individual or group case studies and community impact.
• Comprehensive evaluation reports of the training's effectiveness.
