JOB DETAILS:
Position Purpose
The Human Resource Manager will plan, initiate, develop, review, and implement HR systems and processes consistent with the university's strategic plan, policies, and the laws of Uganda.

Key Responsibilities
The HR Manager will handle a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
1. Recruitment and Selection
o Oversee recruitment and hiring processes in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
2. Onboarding and Staff Orientation
o Facilitate smooth onboarding for new hires and ongoing employee orientation.
3. Performance and Reward Management
o Manage employee performance reviews and oversee reward/recognition programs.

4. Staff Training and Development
o Ensure staff development by coordinating training programs in liaison with the top management team.
5. Compliance
o Ensure adherence to university policies, employment laws, and labor regulations.
6. Staff Evaluation
o Regularly assess staff performance and provide actionable feedback.
7. Discipline and Grievance Handling
o Address and resolve workplace conflicts and grievances effectively.
8. Benefits and Compensation Management
o Develop and manage employee benefits packages.
9. Payroll Management
o Oversee payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payments.
10. HR Systems and Documentation
o Manage HR systems, databases, and proper utilization of the information management system.
11. Exit Management
o Handle staff exit processes, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess the following:
1.  Educational Background
o A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration, with an option in HR.
o A postgraduate diploma in HR or a related field is an added advantage.
2. Professional Certifications
o Membership or certification from a recognized HR professional body is desirable.
3. Work Experience
o At least ten (10) years of relevant HR experience, five of which should be at a senior management level in a reputable organization.
4. Technical Skills
o Proficiency in HR systems management and computer literacy.
o Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Minimum Experience
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in HR management, including five years at a senior management level.

• Experience in an academic institution is an added advantage.
