JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Programs Director is responsible for incorporating the client’s vision, mission, and core values into all program activities. This individual will lead the management of budgeting, reporting, and staff supervision to ensure program goals are met effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning and Management
• Initiate and set goals for programs aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
• Plan programs from start to completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines, milestones, and processes.
• Develop and approve budgets and operational plans for programs.
• Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Team Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise program and project managers, providing feedback and resolving complex issues.
• Discover ways to enhance the efficiency and productivity of both procedures and personnel.
• Apply change, risk, and resource management principles when necessary.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
• Read and analyze reports prepared by managers to track progress and identify challenges.
• Oversee quality management activities and integrate quality improvement into daily program operations.
• Prepare detailed and accurate reports or presentations for senior management.
Compliance and Stakeholder Engagement
• Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with program objectives and organizational vision.
Additional Responsibilities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the relevant authority.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
• Bachelor’s Degree in Management or a related field.
Experience
• 3–5 years of professional experience in program management, preferably in the NGO sector.
• Proven experience as a Program Director or in another managerial position.
Key Competencies
• In-depth understanding of project and program management techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics for program assessment.
• Strong skills in data analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant software tools.
• Knowledge of Lusoga and Luganda is required.
