Swift Minds is a Management Consulting and Human Resource Consulting Firm recruiting on behalf of a client. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to take on the role of Coordinator – Economic Development Programs. This is an opportunity to lead impactful initiatives that empower rural communities economically while fostering innovation and sustainability.
Job Purpose
The Coordinator will lead and oversee the Economic and Agriculture department. This role involves empowering rural communities, ensuring the profitability and sustainability of ministry farms, and aligning all program activities with the organization's mission and vision. The Coordinator will drive economic growth, improve agricultural practices, and ensure accountability of resources.
Key Responsibilities
Economic Empowerment
• Oversee and support all economic and savings groups under the organization, empowering community members to move from poverty to self-reliance.
• Lead the establishment and operationalization of a microfinance institution to promote a culture of saving and provide affordable loan options.
• Design and implement livelihood programs aimed at poverty alleviation and enhancing economic opportunities for rural communities.
• Deliver financial literacy training and develop strategies for economic growth in the targeted communities.
Agricultural Management
• Efficiently manage all ministry farms to ensure proper maintenance, productivity, and profitability.
• Ensure effective utilization of farm resources to support agricultural sustainability.
• Develop and execute farm work plans, coordinating the efforts of casual workers.
• Establish demonstration farms to teach improved farming techniques and promote agricultural innovation.
• Drive food security initiatives and improve market access for farm produce.
• Lead scalable and sustainable agricultural projects that contribute to economic development.
Supervision and Leadership
• Supervise teams within the Economic and Agriculture department, providing guidance, mentorship, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Monitor and assess the impact of programs, suggesting improvements and implementing innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or a related field.
Professional Experience
• 5-6 years of experience in humanitarian response, with a specific focus on rural community engagement and economic development approaches.
• Extensive experience managing economic and agricultural initiatives within a nonprofit or development agency.
• Proven ability to plan and implement scalable agricultural and livelihood projects.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong analytical skills to assess program impact and implement necessary improvements.
• Knowledge of local and international trends in economics and agriculture, along with an understanding of challenges faced in rural communities.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and reporting skills to manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to lead and mentor teams effectively, fostering collaboration and high performance.
