Location: Kampala, with travel countrywide as required
Salary: Compensation will be based on agreed-upon terms, with the possibility of renewal or transition into a longer-term role based on performance and organizational needs.

About Wezesha Impact
Wezesha Impact is a FOR-IMPACT organization focused on improving the employment outcomes of youth in Africa. We have two primary program themes:
1. Skilling and preparing youth for entrepreneurship and work readiness.

2. Supporting youth-led enterprises to start, survive, thrive, and assist youth in securing employment.

Our target demographic includes youth aged 15 to 30 years, particularly vulnerable, unemployed, or underemployed individuals in rural and urban communities. We currently serve youth across Central, Eastern, and Northern regions of Uganda.

Role Summary
The Talent and Culture Coordinator will establish foundational human resource systems, policies, and processes to foster an engaging, high-performing workplace culture. This short-term role will focus on talent acquisition, onboarding, and organizational culture to prepare Wezesha Impact for its long-term goals.

Key Deliverables
1. Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
• Develop and execute a recruitment strategy aligned with the organization's mission and values.
• Complete the recruitment of at least three critical positions, including job postings and offer negotiation.

• Design and pilot a comprehensive onboarding framework, including an onboarding manual for new hires.
2. Policy Development and Implementation
• Review key HR policies (e.g., recruitment, performance management, grievance handling) ensuring compliance with Ugandan labor laws.
• Create an employee handbook outlining HR processes, organizational values, and workplace expectations.

3. Performance Management System
• Design and pilot a performance management system with templates for evaluations and feedback mechanisms.
• Conduct an initial round of performance evaluations with managers.
4. Culture and Engagement Initiatives
• Conduct an employee engagement survey and analyze feedback to identify improvement areas.
• Propose and implement at least two engagement initiatives to promote inclusivity, recognition, and innovation.

• Embed Wezesha Impact’s core values in daily operations and communications.
5. Human Resource Operations and Systems
• Develop an HR data management system to maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

• Introduce a system to track HR metrics (e.g., retention rates, staff satisfaction) and provide actionable insights.

Performance Indicators
• Key recruitment processes are completed efficiently.
• HR policies and systems are developed, approved, and implemented.

• Onboarding framework is created and piloted successfully.
• Employee engagement initiatives are launched and baseline feedback is gathered.
• Performance management system is established, and initial evaluations are conducted.

Skills and Competencies
• Expertise in HR management, particularly in talent acquisition, onboarding, and culture development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across all levels.

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines within a short-term contract.
• Proficiency in HR software and ability to create scalable HR systems.

• Experience working in dynamic, mission-driven organizations.
