JOB DETAILS:
Role Purpose:
To design, coordinate, and implement internal communication and employee engagement initiatives across Lato, ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and brand standards. The role also involves conducting research, crafting strategic communication plans, and managing internal communication channels to enhance employee experience, promote engagement, and foster brand loyalty.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Insights:
• Conduct employee research to gather insights that improve HR processes and enhance employee experience.
• Perform internal communication research to support the planning of communication and engagement initiatives across the organization.
• Liaise with the HR team to design and implement research instruments/tools and conduct employee research initiatives such as dip stick surveys, pulse check surveys, and temperature checks.
2. Strategic Planning and Implementation:
• Design and implement internal communication and employee engagement plans tailored to the organization’s needs.
• Coordinate the execution of internal communication and engagement initiatives, ensuring they align with organizational goals and values.
• Develop impactful measures to evaluate the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities.
• Coordinate the development of the HR Annual Calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and timelines.
• Prepare and manage budgets for internal communication and employee engagement initiatives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with strategic goals.
3. Creative Design and Content Development:
• Utilize applications such as Canva and Illustrator to create internal communication materials (audio, video, and written) adhering to Lato’s brand guidelines.
• Demonstrate strong writing skills for creating compelling content for internal communication products, including newsletters, announcements, and campaign messages.
• Collaborate with Marketing to design and implement internal branding for offices, factories, warehouses, and other premises.
• Work closely with HR teams and departmental/functional heads to create and design content for employee induction sessions.
4. Process Management:
• Design and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for content management and production.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to streamline and enhance internal communication processes.
• Conduct audits of existing communication channels and propose robust solutions to improve communication effectiveness.
5. Event Coordination:
• Plan and manage logistics for internal campaigns, events, and employee engagement activities across organization.
• Coordinate the production and publication of the organization’s internal newsletter.
6. Administrative Functions:
• Draft speeches and keynotes for Executive Committee (Ex-Co) members.
• Oversee the management of internal communication channels, including onboarding new employees and removing access for exiting employees.
• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure timely and effective communication during transitions and organizational changes.
• Liaise with HRBPs to develop content for offboarding engagements with employees exiting the organization and conduct exit interviews, analyze findings, and provide recommendations/advisory on improving the employee experience.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in internal communication, employee engagement, or a related function.
• Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe Illustrator.
• Proven experience in content creation and writing for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of employee engagement strategies and internal communication best practices.
• Strong analytical skills to conduct research and evaluate communication effectiveness.

Work Environment: The role will primarily be based in Uganda but will involve working closely with teams across Uganda and Kenya. Occasional travel may be required to support initiatives across the organization.
