Iles de Paix is a European NGO founded in 1965 that specializes in supporting rural development. Iles de Paix has opted to promote the agroecological approach as a means of improving the living conditions of small-scale producers and contributing to the emergence of sustainable food systems. In Uganda, Iles de Paix has been working in the Rwenzori region since mid-2017. To support this transition, Iles de Paix is working over the long term with a range of stakeholders in the food system, such as farming families and groups, consumers, vendors, restaurants, local authorities, etc.

With a focus on empowering youth through entrepreneurial opportunities in agribusiness, we work to promote agroecology as a sustainable model that supports healthy ecosystems and resilient livelihoods.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Assistant to support our youth and entrepreneurship-focused agribusiness programs in Uganda. Moreover, the successful candidate will work closely with our program team to monitor, coordinate, and evaluate the programs of Iles de Paix and its partners in Uganda. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful initiatives that promote economic and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Coordination & Support:
- Assist in planning and implementing program activities aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship in agroecology-based agribusinesses.
- Provide logistical support for training sessions, workshops, and community outreach activities.
- Collaborate with local partners, youth organizations, and stakeholders to align program activities with local needs and priorities.
2. Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Coordinate the collection and analysis of program data, tracking progress and outcomes to assess the impact of initiatives.
- Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports, ensuring timely and accurate documentation of program milestones.
- Use data-driven insights to suggest improvements to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
3. Communication & Reporting:
- Draft reports, case studies, and success stories to showcase program achievements and lessons learned.
- Communicate regularly with team members, local partners, and stakeholders to maintain program transparency and alignment.
- Assist in preparing donor and partner reports, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met.
4. Capacity Building & Youth Engagement:
- Engage with youth participants to provide guidance and support, fostering a learning environment that encourages entrepreneurship.
- Assist in organizing training sessions and providing resources to help youth participants build their agribusiness skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master degree in agriculture, environmental science, development studies, business, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in program coordination, preferably within the fields of agribusiness, agroecology, or youth entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated knowledge of agroecology, sustainable agriculture, or youth-centered development initiatives.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and report on data, with experience in monitoring and evaluation being an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in English and a local Ugandan language (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in designing surveys with the computer version of KoboCollect.
