Job Description/Requirements
Position Overview:
The Deputy Head Teacher in charge of Administration is responsible for managing the administrative and operational functions of the secondary school. This role ensures that the school operates efficiently, complies with regulatory requirements, and provides a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Leadership:
- Oversee daily school operations, including timetabling, resource allocation, and staff scheduling.
- Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures in line with the school’s vision and goals.
- Manage and monitor student admissions, records, and attendance systems.
2. Human Resource Management:
- Supervise non-teaching staff and support the Head Teacher in managing teaching staff.
- Coordinate staff appraisals, professional development, and performance reviews.
- Handle recruitment, induction, and deployment of administrative staff.
3. Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure the school adheres to national education standards, policies, and legal requirements.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Head Teacher, Board of Governors, and relevant authorities.
4. Financial Management:
- Assist in budget planning, monitoring, and control of school finances.
- Oversee procurement, inventory, and maintenance of school resources.
- Ensure transparent and accountable use of school funds.
5. Student Welfare:
- Manage student discipline policies and procedures.
- Oversee health, safety, and security measures within the school.
- Work closely with teachers, counselors, and parents to address student issues.
6. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a liaison between the school administration, parents, and the wider community.
- Organize and facilitate school events, meetings, and assemblies.
- Promote positive relationships with external stakeholders, including education authorities and sponsors.
7. Strategic Planning:
- Support the Head Teacher in developing and implementing the school’s strategic plan.
- Evaluate and improve administrative systems to align with the school’s goals.
- Lead projects and initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Proven experience in school administration or a senior teaching role.
- Strong knowledge of educational policies and administrative processes.
Skills and Competencies:
- Leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Financial and resource management expertise.
- Proficiency in ICT and management software.
- Ability to multitask, solve problems, and make informed decisions.
Reporting To:
- The Head Teacher.
