JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary
This strategic position involves planning and implementing school inspections, assisting school leaders in developing and implementing improvement plans, and coordinating peer mentorship systems in the assigned region. The officer will spend most of their time in schools to ensure compliance with targets and report on the quality of provision in schools within their zone.
Purpose
To provide support for school improvement through school inspections, monitoring, and reporting.
Main Responsibilities
• Plan and implement school inspections with the line manager to monitor progress towards improvement targets.
• Produce and present high-quality inspection reports with transparent judgments and evidence-based recommendations.
• Communicate and enforce post-inspection recommendations in schools.
• Coordinate self-evaluation processes for school leaders to aid in developing and implementing School Improvement Plans (SIPs).
• Guide schools in creating and implementing SMART SIPs.
• Plan and deliver post-inspection training for school leaders in identified areas of need.
• Collect relevant data for project improvement and reporting purposes.
• Generate cluster-level inspection reports and present them to the System Strengthening and Quality Assurance leads.
• Work closely with Regional Directorate of Education Standards (DES) teams, DEOs, DISs, and PEAS peer school leaders to improve school performance across inspection parameters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in education; postgraduate training in Education Management is an added advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in education management and administration at the secondary school head teacher level.
• Proven experience in delivering quality secondary school education and curriculum leadership.
• Record of improving student learning outcomes through teacher training and school support.
• Desirable: Trainer of Trainers experience.
• Experience in developing and implementing professional school inspection systems.
• Proven experience in school evaluations and data-driven reporting.
• Desirable: Experience in inspecting government schools.

• Comprehensive knowledge of national and local education policies and guidelines.
• In-depth understanding of competence-based curriculum delivery.
• Mentoring, guidance, and counseling skills.
• Strong data collection skills (observations, interviews, focus group discussions).

• Ability to prioritize resources to meet measurable objectives.
• Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Awareness of geographical, cultural, social, and economic factors influencing schools' ethos.
