JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the Job
To plan, coordinate, and execute various baseline and monitoring surveys, stakeholder engagements, consultations, and lead and train teams under SPOUTS carbon projects in accordance with the data collection and methodology guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
1. Coordinate logistics and support for carbon audits during validation and verification exercises, including booking audit sites, assisting auditors during visits, ensuring compliance with methodology standards, and facilitating the planning, execution, and reporting for carbon monitoring across all distributed technologies in the country (20%).
2. Provide quality control support to data teams to assess and validate compliance of sales/distribution data with carbon requirements through spot checks at end-user premises (20%).
3. Plan and execute baseline studies or other research for technologies and solutions that the company would venture into. This involves managing field surveys, supporting recruitment, training field teams, and overseeing logistics and data collection activities on site (10%).
4. Support knowledge management of the carbon projects implemented by SPOUTS, including proper documentation of activities, updating standard operating procedures and project files, and ensuring physical and digital filing of documents (10%).
5. Provide concept development support on data management options and carbon offset projects. Support the development of innovative data collection tools, systems, and standard operating procedures linked to carbon data and the entire market value chain (10%).
6. Coordinate, lead, and comprehensively report on hygiene campaigns, annual monitoring surveys, water consumption, and quality tests as per methodology guidelines (10%).
7. Conduct research and desk reviews for new carbon project ideas and document findings. Pilot and test concepts before deployment to ensure efficacy of project outputs (5%).
8. Prepare project budgets and expense reports aligned with approved budgets (5%).
9. Coordinate, set up, manage, and report on the performance of Uganda’s Carbon Business Development team in alignment with HR recruitment policy and project objectives (5%).
10. Perform any other roles added from time to time in relation to departmental objectives (5%).
Contribution to Strategy
This role supports the planning, execution, and reporting of carbon monitoring, verification, and validation exercises for all Carbon Projects, ensuring compliance with carbon requirements, optimizing resource use, enhancing knowledge management, and fostering innovation, all of which drive SPOUTS’ mission.
People Management Responsibilities
This role involves managing, training, and coordinating field teams for carbon monitoring and validation activities, ensuring compliance with policies, and optimizing resource allocation for successful project execution.
Requirements
Qualifications
• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Monitoring and Evaluation, or Project Management.
Experience
• At least 2 years in project management or coordination.
• Proven experience managing data collection projects for research studies to deliver quality results on time, on budget, and within scope.
• Experience in data analysis, data-backed decision-making, and monitoring and evaluation roles.
• Project Management Professional certification is a plus.
• Hands-on knowledge of carbon offset or GHG reduction project implementation, such as stakeholder engagement meetings, baseline surveys, or project performance monitoring, is an advantage.
Business Knowledge
• Proficiency in MS Excel or other spreadsheet software with excellent graphical presentation and reporting skills.
• Experience organizing, coordinating, and leading training workshops.
Languages
• Fluent in English.
• Good knowledge of Runyakitara and Luganda.
Stakeholders
• Internal Stakeholders: Operations, Production, Sales, Customer Service, IT, Marketing.
• External Stakeholders: Partners and Beneficiaries.
Special Conditions
The position requires travel between the SPOUTS Head Office, the factory at Nakawuka, and other parts of Uganda in response to the demands of the role.
