JOB DETAILS:
Definition of role and mission
The Senior Mechanical Technician
• is responsible for maintenance execution and operations within his/her field of competence;
• ensures that maintenance operations under his/her responsibility are carried out in strict accordance with COMPANY’s current safety rules and operating procedures and in accordance with standard industry practice, thereby guaranteeing the quality of maintenance operations, within its field, carried out on site by CONTRACTOR;
• guarantees a good level of availability of the equipment under his/her responsibility for on production sites;
• plays a predominant role in the transfer of skills to personnel undergoing training by mentoring on site.
Activities:
HSE
• Ensures HSE policy fulfillment during his/her activities;
• Have a good understanding of COMPANY and CONTRACTOR HSE rules;
• Assists COMPANY Supervisors on field to spread the HSE policies and to put the rules in place;
• Ensures that the team under his/her responsibility has understood the Group policies and applies them;
• Assist COMPANY Supervisor in writing the daily basic risks’ analysis reports for specific interventions;
• Participate in safety talk before and after interventions;
• Ensures that employees under his/her responsibility have the required habilitation;
• Participates in key procedure audits in a proactive manner;
• Respects the waste management policy in force on site, verifying that all activities performed under his/her own responsibility, comply with it, without any exceptions;
• Applies Carbon Footprint Reduction guidelines as set up by CONTRACTOR and in line with COMPANY philosophy;
• Be aware and respectful of Cyber security COMPANY protocols if using COMPANY PCs / Industrial System / connected to COMPANY network.
Operations
• Performs on site the Maintenance operations during normal shift and Emergency which are placed under its team responsibility;
• With Mechanical Maintenance teams assists specialists working under Specific Maintenance Contracts;
• Ensures that COMPANY’s HSE regulations are respected (especially procedures related to Work Permits), as well as approved operating procedures and standard industry practice during performance of maintenance operations placed under its responsibility;
• Ensures that all Maintenance and repairs to plant and equipment are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in strict compliance with COMPANY operating procedures and any relevant statutory legislation in order to maintain all such equipment in sound and safe operating condition; Direct and lead the execution of the preventive and corrective maintenance on all mechanical rotating and static equipment as per maintenance procedures and troubleshooting of the problems to ensure the integrity of the equipment for ensuring continuous and smooth operations of the production and processing facilities;
• Execute mechanical rotating and static equipment maintenance activities (preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance) in cohesive, efficient & safe manner to ensure maximum plant uptime and to support sustainable production;
• Lead the execution of maintenance and repair works and inspection activities including disassembly and reassembly of mechanical rotating and static equipment in Tilenga facilities and Wells not limited to Pumps, Air compressors, Water and Chemical Injection Systems, Tanks, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Electric Heaters, Piping items (valves, strainers, bellows etc), etc.
• Lead the problem-solving activities to resolve critical mechanical rotating and static equipment issues to determine the root causes and make recommendations to COMPANY supervisor to avoid recurrence of the issues;
• Writes the technical reports related to its field;
• Monitors the functioning of systems placed under its responsibility;
• Ensures that the transfer of knowledge by mentoring occurs properly within its teams, and
• actively participates in this activity;
• Participate actively to the Nationalization and with positive interactions process for both Senior Ugandan Technician and Ugandan Technician;
• Coordinate with Trainers for Competencies gap analysis and appropriate Training response;
• Carries out, at COMPANY Supervisor request, any intervention within its field of competence;
• Takes in charge the systems under its responsibility in case of breakdown until correct operation status.
Methods
• Identifies recurrent corrective maintenance interventions, analyses them and suggests improvements on all its perimeter (organisation, operations, Maintenance plan & procedure, material quality, diagram, ...);
• Keeps a critical eye on current preventive maintenance programs and, if need be, suggests improvements;
• Warns support teams of any recurring problems related to the availability or quality of spare parts and suggests improvements and requests modifications.
Quality Assurance
• Verifies the quality of its teams’ interventions by frequent on-site checks;
• Ensures that the members of its teams have the qualifications, as well as proper behavior and skills required for the tasks entrusted to them and, if need be, suggests corrective measures. Mandatory Trainings

• Vibration monitoring / analysis;
• Pulsation damper and accumulator Main.
Qualifications and Experience required: The holder of this position must have the following qualifications:
The holder of this position must have the following educational qualifications and experience:
• Technical Diploma or Degree in Engineering or equivalent education, preferably with specialization in Mechanical Engineering;
• 3-5 years’ experience in the maintenance of production installations in oil and gas, power production, or manufacturing
Specific professional knowledge and experience:
• CMMS experience and know-how; Mainly to be familiar with WP/WR system
• knowledge and experience in using distributed control systems
• Ability to lead and motivate multinational teams;
• Pride in its work, ability to maintain good relations with colleagues and others;
• Working language: English.
• must have a proven sense of responsibility & must be rigorous and methodical in its approach to operations;
• must be able to anticipate and analyse operational and technical problems;
• must have proven ability as a leader of a team;
• be perfectly competent and independent in his/her field, he must show common sense and
• organisational ability;
• The ability to demonstrate natural authority, founded on his/her abilities and on the trust he/she has in his/her teams, is essential.
• A good knowledge of the process of oil and gas treatment, and installations and a thorough knowledge of the equipment used in oil and gas treatment installations is an added advantage;
