JOB DETAILS:
Mission Aviation Fellowship is a Christian aviation organisation. As a worldwide partnership we operate around 116 light aircraft from bases in 24 countries, serving about 1,000 destinations. These aircraft are used to enable aid and development agencies, missions, national churches and other local groups, see people physically and spiritually transformed.

MAF in Uganda has 5 aircraft based at Kajjansi Airfield, where our office and maintenance hangar are located. We also support the operations and maintenance of 2 aircraft in our programme in Monrovia, Liberia. Our flight programme supports the ministries of many organisations serving in Uganda, East Congo and South Sudan.

We are seeking a Head of Quality and Safety to join our programme in Uganda.

Responsibilities
The Head of Quality and Safety of Technical Operations will maintain the quality assurance programme and the safety management system in the MAF Uganda AMO. The role requires the overseeing and running of an effective Quality Management System, ensuring that MAF Uganda AMO remains in compliance with applicable UCAA and MAF requirements, whilst promoting a Quality Culture and maintaining Just Culture processes within the Technical Operations department. The successful candidate will develop and execute an annual quality plan including an audit schedule, carry out an annual QMS review process in accordance with the quality manual, including the identification and highlighting quality, safety, security and reliability trends within technical and base operations and ensure these are relayed to the relevant operations team in a timely manner. The role requires engagement in the maintenance department leadership team, advising and providing independent reports to the Accountable Manager and MAF senior management on issues pertaining to Quality and Safety, including detailed analysis of quality and safety reports and trend analysis.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
• A licensed maintenance engineer or equivalent
• Five year experience in an Aircraft maintenance facility or equivalent
• Proven excellent communication skills
• Background knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations
• Logical thinker
• Computer literate

Desirable:
• Formal quality management certificate or training
• Knowledge of the organisational manuals required by a "Part 145" or equivalent maintenance organisation
• Management experience
