About PowerUP:
We are a cleantech company developing electric appliances that reduce carbon emissions while delivering income and health benefits to our customers in Low and Middle Income countries. Our products are designed to tap into dual revenue streams: small incremental payments from our customers, and payments for emissions reductions from global ER buyers. As a product design-oriented company with a deep understanding of how to grow markets by leveraging carbon finance, we seek to become the leading provider of emissions-reducing products and technology to consumers in Low and Middle Income Countries. Our first product is a line of pay-as-you-go electric pressure cooker products designed specifically for sub-Saharan African markets.

Role:
The Head of Supply Chain will be responsible for the success of PowerUP’s supply chain activities: including China operations, logistics to markets, and in-market aftersales coordination. The job is to ensure our high-impact products are built on time, with high quality, and are cost-effective They will work closely with the rest of the Product Development function to deliver high-quality impactful solutions to our customers. Their work will ultimately help our primarily women customers cook faster, cheaper, and with less carbon emissions - giving them more control of their time, finances, and health.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Program Management
a. Manage all projects throughout the PowerUP supply chain
i. Oversee China manufacturing and downstream teams

ii. Set and manage supply chain performance targets including cost reduction, timeline management, and quality assurance
iii. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to supply chain operations
b. Create and manage processes
i. Serialization management
ii. Warranty at the manufacturing and distribution level
iii. Policies in forecasting, inventory management, and sub-supplier ordering

iv. Customer order fulfillment and international logistics
c. Setup systems / tools to enforce procedures
2. International Manufacturing
a. Coordinate with factories in Asia to ensure the processes are followed
b. Lead supplier selection process
c. Oversee inventory and component management
d. Design and implement quality assurance procedures as per company targets
e. Manage cost optimization targets
3. Supply Chain Strategy
a. Forecasting and expansion planning
b. Develop long and short-term supply chain strategy. Including strategy around: economies of scale, local assembly, and more
c. Lead in manufacturing contracting and negotiations
d. Supply Chain budget management

Required competencies:
• Minimum 8 years in relevant international supply chain, particularly manufacturing in Asia
• Strong understanding of quality assurance particularly quality control

• Strong program management, analytical (excel, databases, ERP), and complex problem-solving skills

• Experience in international logistics: exporting from Asia and importing into countries across Africa
• Further training / certifications in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, ERP, etc…
• Experience managing international teams
• Knowledge of manufacturing, kit assembly, (CBU, CKD, SKD) is an advantage
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities

• Team player with excellent ability to work autonomously and lead of a program of projects
