JOB DETAILS:
Job Role: To carry out financial duties of writing and keeping books of account, carrying financial documentation and drafting financial reports in compliance with AAU/AAI policies & procedures, international accounting standards and other statutory requirements
Roles and responsibilities
• Coordinate financial Planning and budgeting at LRP level, in line with AAU/AAI and Donor requirements
• Manage the liquidity position and treasury function of the LRP’s such that financial obligations are met as they fall due in accordance with the AAI/AAU LFPM.
• Examine payments requests and other financial transactions for approval and ensure there is adequate supporting documentation in accordance with LFPM, donor guidelines and national laws.
• Prepare and submit periodic financial reports, in line with LFPM and statutory requirement to the Finance Manager, Donors and as may be required from time to time
• Coordinate and manage donor funded projects at LRP cluster level and ensure accurate and timely reporting as per the pre-defined project requirements
• Provide and account for general administrative and logistical support to staff and relevant stakeholders in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and best practice
• Prepare and attend to the needs of internal and external auditors and implement recommendations in line with FPM.
• Assess financial management gaps and build capacity of partners and staff in financial management in accordance with GAAP and ensure that good accounting systems are established both at partner & LRP level
Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration, Financial Management or Accounting from a recognized university.
• Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA and training in donor regulations are an added advantage.
Experience:
• At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience from a recognized institution, preferably an NGO
Competencies:
• Computerized accounting skills, MS Office, Communication skills, Analytical skills, financial management skills, Interpersonal Skills, Ability to work with several accounting packages. Ability to establish critical working relationships, Ability to promote and safeguard AAU policies, Transformative feminist leadership skills, Team player; Confidence, openness, and willingness to learn; Self-driven; Ability to work in community setting.
