Job Title: Telecom IT BSS Lead
Department: IT / Information Systems
Reports To: IT Manager

Summary:
The Telecom IT BSS Lead is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Business Support Systems (BSS) within a telecommunications company. This individual will lead a team of BSS professionals to ensure seamless operation, integration, and enhancement of critical business processes such as customer relationship management (CRM), billing, order management, and revenue assurance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

BSS Implementation and Management:

  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and integration of BSS applications and platforms.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of services.
  • Define and enforce BSS governance processes for change management, release management, and incident resolution.
  • Manage the Development, Delivery, Testing and Deployment of Products and Services in co-ordination with the BSS vendor.
  • Manage and Assign the priorities for delivery

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of BSS systems.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor BSS effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex BSS issues.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of BSS professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and operational demands.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the BSS budget, including capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenses (OPEX).
  • Track and report on BSS expenditures and return on investment (ROI).

Qualifications and Skills:
a) Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a relevant technical field is a plus.

b) Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry with a focus on BSS.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role managing BSS teams and projects.
  • Proven track record of successful BSS implementations and transformations.

c) Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of BSS architecture, components, and technologies (CRM, billing, order management, revenue assurance).
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., TM Forum).
  • Experience with cloud-based BSS solutions is a plus.

d) Leadership Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on results.

e) Additional Considerations:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., TM Forum, ITIL) are a plus.
