NHS Lanarkshire’s Stroke MCN is looking to appoint a Band 5 Assistant Psychologist.

The post holder will undertake a range of duties to assist the safe and effective delivery of patient care, including audit and research and providing direct patient work under the close supervision of qualified Psychologists. The post holder will be working with people with stroke and who may present challenges with communication and behaviour. The post holder may assist in the preparation and delivery of teaching and training and undertake work which helps qualified staff plan new, or redesign existing, services. The post-holder will work with individuals and groups in outpatient and community settings. The post requires the ability to take a role in assessment and delivery of psychological interventions within the context of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. The post-holder will have regular access to clinical supervision and peer support.

What we'll need you to bring

• The Post-holder is required to have at least an Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Psychology (2.1 or above)
• They must be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartership of the British Psychological Society (GBC)
• They must hold a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence
• They must have a high level of computer skills and knowledge of programmes and statistical packages.
• The post-holder should have had experience of relevant paid/voluntary work.

It would be great if you also have

• Additional postgraduate training/qualifications in human services particularly relating to work in stroke and/or neuropsychology services
• Experience working with people with stroke
• Experience of working in a clinical, healthcare or social care setting
• Involvement in service evaluation and/or clinical research
• Experience of using statistical packages in a work setting via research
• Knowledge of models of neuropsychological rehabilitation and psychological adjustment as relevant to stroke
• Experience of applying psychological models to clinical settings
• Experience of undertaking psychometric/cognitive assessments
• Ability to undertake audit/research within a clinical setting
• Ability to use a variety of computer applications including statistical analysis packages, spreadsheets, databases and word processors in support of clinical and professional activities

• 18.5hours
• Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Stroke MCN within Coathill Hospital

The working pattern for this role 18.75 hours, Tuesday – Thursday.
