Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client Lancet Laboratories Uganda Ltd,we are looking for competent, skilled, and experienced Country General Manager to work in Kampala.
Job Summary
The Country General Manager will direct and manage our organization’s business activities and to develop and implement effective business strategies and programs. Duties for the general manager will include allocating budget resources, formulating policies, coordinating business operations, monitoring and motivating staff, managing operational costs, ensuring good customer service, improving administration processes, engaging with vendors, hiring and training employees, identifying business opportunities, and monitoring financial activities. Your entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing business functions will assist our organization in maintaining relationships with clients, generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, ensuring sustainability, and meeting business objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as driving the company’s values.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including ISO standards, audits, and financial management.
- Enhance operational systems, processes, and policies to support the organization’s mission and improve management reporting and information flow.
- Oversees the project management of new laboratory establishment, ensuring alignment with agreed processes and strategic objectives.
- Direct and manage laboratory operations and associated technical, administrative, and support functions on a day-to-day basis to achieve organizational goals.
- Attend meetings with pathologists and regional nurse/technical managers to provide updates on operational matters and discuss progress in alignment with agreed-upon plans.
- Provide consulting services on matters related to tax and insurance questions, and business structure and growth.
- Leads the development, management, communication, and implementation of operational guidelines, standard operating procedures, and performance standards, incorporating LEAN principles.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality assurance, health, and safety processes, following standard operating procedures within the environment to ensure corrective actions are taken as required.
- Oversees the preparation processes for annual internal and external quality control audits pertaining to processes in accordance with agreed plans and timeframes.
- Determines and/or monitors the implementation of service levels and quality standards, ISO 9000 and lean processes in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice, SANAS accreditation requirements.
- Ensure smooth running of all the lab services with specific attention to key target areas including but not limited to TAT, availability of reagents/consumables and management of incompletes.
- Ensures on-site training, seminars, and participation in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to ensure that laboratory staff continuously update their knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements.
- Responsible for managing and organizing all relevant documentation, such as work instructions, job profiles, and training records, required for accreditation purposes.
- Ensures equipment maintenance.
- Enforcing compliance to service level agreements with service providers, asset management, procurement of goods and staff overtime expenditure to ensure the most effective utilization of resources,
- Optimization of stock levels and reduction of costs at all times.
- Serves as primary liaison to legal counsel in addressing legal issues e.g. copyright, antitrust, governing instruments, partnerships, licensing etc.
- Oversees monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization’s financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
- Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting.
- Assists finance manager in creating annual organizational budget and monitoring cash flow and maintain long-range financial plans.
- Interpretation and presentation of management reports to monitor work and performance status as well as determine expenditure trends of the region and provide inputs into strategic planning of the organization
- Assists the finance manager in ensuring Budget control procedures and protocols are adhered to and in place
- Monitors and ensures collection outstanding amounts owed by clients, bad debt and client disputes
- Ensures that Accounting Department requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner to internal and external parties.
- Enhances turnover and profitability by strategically defining and implementing sales policies, while also increasing market share and maintaining high profitability through diligent margin monitoring.”
- Manages the sales and marketing departments ensuring that the activities lead to results.
- Oversees the implementation and management of sales & marketing strategies for surrounding areas.
- Interprets and analyses reports received from business development officers and effects changes that improves service delivery.
- Liaises with customers to resolve service-related issues, address non- conformances, maintain a positive image of the organization and promote the services of Lancet laboratories.
- Initiates market research studies and analyze their findings in order to advise Lancet on local, national, and international factors affecting the service offering of the organization.
- Carry out marketing functions and engaging new clients through negotiations.
- Supervises staff appointments within the practice’s standard terms and conditions, ensuring strict adherence to all protocols and procedures.
- Ensuring proper handling of staff training in coordination with Quality Assurance and Human Resources.
- Supervising the country’s operations and promptly reporting any deficiencies.
- Regular visits to sites/ communication with the regionals to determine the progress & productivity of the sites.
- Close supervision of all new labs/depots during the implementation phase.
- Ensures the safety and security of both goods and individuals.
- Serves as the company’s representative in interactions with regulatory authorities and shareholders.
- Supervises recruitment, activity planning, attendance to HR functions, and staff performance management to ensure service standards align with team and Lancet’s strategic objectives.
- Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services departments
- Provide weekly statistical reporting to the managing director.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or management or relevant science related field
- Masters of Business Administration added advantage
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the medical industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Good knowledge of different business functions.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Demonstrated competency in creating and execution on strategic plans.
- Strong business acumen to easily identify business opportunities.
