About The Role

This is a Fixed term role for 12 months

The HSEQ and Risk Training Officer is responsible for identifying, scoping, and delivering vocational training and skills assessment that underpins operational capability. This position reports to the Training Lead and works collaboratively across the HSEQ team and with SRS Operational Leaders. This role is accountable for:

  • building internal capability
  • delivery of on-the-job training and skills assessments in accordance with the VRO position profiles: This role requires high-level interpersonal skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all activities are supported, resourced and relevant.

Position Outcomes

The strategy to improve safety culture includes training staff, sharing information, promoting best practices, and auditing training activities. Ensuring compliance involves keeping training, licensing, and authorizations up to date. Training programs are to be identified, scheduled, and delivered, with competency assessments conducted. Accurate data and reporting will be maintained for management purposes. Safety information is communicated through risk-assessed training materials, with knowledge transfer verified during assessments. Lastly, health and wellbeing are supported by promoting safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations.

Qualifications And Experience

Mandatory

  • Valid Australian Heavy Rigid (non-synchro) drivers’ licence.
  • Extensive experience towing trailers and securing mobile plant for transport.
  • Construction Induction (white card).
  • Minimum 4 years (recent) experience in mobile plant operations within civil construction road maintenance or road construction sectors.
  • Computer literacy skills (Power Point, Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Safety Culture)

Desirable

  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, or equivalent.
  • RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction (preferably B1744 Road Construction and Maintenance or B1741 Bitumous Surfacing), or equivalent.
  • Current Victorian Dangerous Goods Drivers Licence
  • Current WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence with endorsements (LF, DG, WP)

Role Specific Requirements

  • The successful applicant will be required to travel throughout the state and work at locations away from base depot/office.
  • The successful applicant must have the physical capability to:
  • Meet the medical standards for commercial vehicle drivers (2022 edition)
  • Access and egress various types of mobile plant unaided;
  • Work in hot weather outdoor;
  • Work in dusty conditions;
  • Wear a half/full face respirator; and
  • Work at heights up to 11 meters.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours.
