Country Manager Uganda (CM-UG) for Busoga Forestry Company Ltd. in Uganda

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
The CM-UG is reporting to the Group CEO of Green Resources AS BUSOGA FORESTRY COMPANY

Busoga Forestry Company ('BFC') is a vertically integrated FSC certified operation with two plantations (Bukaleba & Kachung) with approximately 6,500ha planted to Pine and Eucalyptus.

BFC operates a Sawmill and a Pole Treatment Plant and supplies Forest Products and Biomass to surrounding industries.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the CM-UG is to drive the overall performance of BFC and ensure that operations are managed sustainably (environmental, social and financial) and safe.
Primary responsibilities include to plan, develop, implement and manage the company's operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• The CM-UG will have overall Profit & Loss responsibilities.
• Establish and manage company budgets
• Commercial management including identifying new potential clients, contract negotiating and managing existing clients.
• Lead a senior management team.
• Develop the staff complement of the company through recruitment, training and succession planning
• Engage with local and national Stakeholders as well as communities

• Ensure that the company's certification systems (ISO9001/14001/45001 & FSC) are upheld and that operations are in line with FSC Principles and Criteria.
• Provide the Corporate Management Team with weekly, monthly and annual reports.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
• Forestry Executive with minimum of 10 years' experience in a Senior management role with not less than 5 years' experience in GM/MD/CEO role.
• Proven experience and successful track record implementing forestry project covering in excess of 5,000ha of plantation forest and volumes of 50,000m3 or more per annum

• Tertiary Education in Forestry, Wood Science or similar fields
• Strong communications skills, both written and verbal Experience in analyzing databases, and producing reports for various audiences

• Extensive training, knowledge and experience in wood processing
• Harvesting and Haulage experience
• Experience in producing communications material (such as press releases)
• Good knowledge of computer systems (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Micro Forest)

• Willingness to work in both a field and office setting, with travel to various locations
• A strong team player, willing to work in a dynamic and remote environment
• Priority will be given to internal recruitment /candidates
