The opportunity

EY Uganda is seeking a proactive and motivated professional to run the operations of a large and high-growth business. The role, based in Kampala Uganda, spans strategy, operations, finance, and client engagement, and is a great match for a versatile individual looking for continued challenge and progression.

Your Key Responsibilities.

Reporting to the Country Managing Partner (CMP). You will coordinate and facilitate the budgeting and budgetary control, job costing & inventory review, financial analysis, preparation of financial statements and in liaison with the Partners and Director(s) and Managers, monitor and report on timely basis the financial measures of the various KPI’s both at Country and Service Line levels.

In Particular, The Successful Candidate Will Be Required To.

  • Manage and Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the Firm (payroll, invoicing, banking’s, and other transactions)
  • To prepare and/or review various Financial statements support schedules and balance sheet reconciliation of various accounts
  • To prepare monthly and annual financial analysis for strategic and operation planning and meetings
  • To track project costs and review Inventory reports periodically for various management decisions
  • To maintain Fixed Assets documentation and preparation of monthly Fixed Assets movement schedule
  • To carry out business analysis, business process re-engineering and operational improvement,
  • To be involved in tool and systems integration and optimization in line with the Firm strategic objectives and goals
  • To prepare Statutory Returns and Statutory accounts for the Firm
  • Support project analysis, validation of plans, and various ad-hoc requests
  • Manage the Firm’s financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
  • Train, coach and mentor Finance & operations staff as per Firm’s metrics.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a Business-related field.
  • Qualified Accountant from recognized institution (CPA / ACCA)
  • Excellent IT skills particularly in excel, Word, PowerPoint and with hands on experience in SAP or any ERP system.
  • Minimum of five years relevant working experience within a busy, computerised environment finance department.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills with ability to develop and maintain costs tracking methods of budget performance and variances.
  • An excellent team player with sound knowledge to assist in delivering the best services to the firm.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
