Description

The Electricity Regulatory Authority is a Statutory Body established in the year 2000, in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999, (Chapter 145 of the Laws of Uganda) to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Sale, Export and Import of Electrical Energy in Uganda.
ERA is mandated by the Electricity Act, 1999, to issue electricity Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Sale and Import Licenses, set License conditions and ensure compliance to License conditions by Licensees. ERA is also mandated to establish a tariff structure, approve rates of charges among other functions. ERA is committed to ensuring a sustainable Electricity Supply. To fulfil its mandate ERA seeks to engage the services of dedicated, competent, innovative and result‐oriented individuals for employment on contract basis for the posts below;

Reports to Manager Technical Compliance and Monitoring
Job Purpose To develop, design and implement programs, policies and practices to ensure that all licensees are incompliance with the respective license terms and conditions, regulatory requirements, codes of practice and standards
Duties/Responsibilities, and Competences for the Job:
• Develop plans to monitor Licensees’ compliance to the technical aspects of the License terms and conditions, regulations, codes, guidelines.
• Develop technical standards, codes, guidelines, for the electricity supply industry of Uganda.
• Provide technical input into the determination of the tariffs for distribution licensees.
• Monitor the implementation of Operation and Maintenance plans for
• Distribution and Transmission Licenses.
• Monitor the performance of the distribution networks and determine the status of the distribution networks on a quarterly basis and its adequacy to cope with quality of supply and quality of service needs in line with the ERA regulations.
• Review and advise on grid extension and rebate requirements.
• Review and report on the annual compliance of distribution licensees;
• 8. Oversee the operationalization of the wheeling and interconnection framework.
• Supervise and monitor the initiatives and projects for biomass to electricity cooking.
Academic Qualifications and Working Experience:
• An Honours University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in the electricity sector with practical knowledge of electricity distribution and transmission systems, electrical standards, network operations.
• Should be a registerable Engineer by UIPE/ERB.
• Should be knowledgeable about the electricity supply industry in Uganda.
• Should be below 30 Years of age.
